We are on the edge of a “frontier,” a zone of transition in understanding who we think we are, who we think we can become; and how communities shape, and are shaped by, an increasingly complex existence mediated by virtual worlds. The purpose of this site is to provide a vehicle for a range of investigators, from professional scientists to the “just curious,” to examine identity formation and community development in virtual worlds.
